Thought we might be sobered by the following poem appearing on the Constructive Curmudgeon's blog. Douglas Grouthius, a christian philosopher and professor is the Constructive Curdmudgeon.

Weep
Weep for America,
you who have tears
left for truth.

Weep for the continued
and soon to be intensified
slaughter of the innocent.

Weep for the supernatural
stupefaction that has
overtaken us.

Weep that character
no longer counts
that image is everything.

Weep that America
has forgotten her birthright

Weep

On Wednesday mornings I teach the ladies bible class here. Two weeks ago on a Tuesday evening there was a startling occurance involving five children that come from a very disfunctional home. I was so emotional over this event and on Wednesday morning it was so very difficult to stand before the class, who as of yet didn't know of it, and try to put on a happy face. This Tuesday evening we have been jolted by the stirring event of electing a president that is left of left and will forever change the face of our country. This morning I had to stand before the class again and try to comfort them when I was an emotional wreck. We are going to have to either change the day we meet for Bible study or stop having these bombshells hit on Tuesday evening. I vote for the latter.

But then dry the tears and continue to fight the fght with greater zeal. Our mission contnues. Tears must be wiped clear of our eyes, so we can see the obligations and duty that is placed before us. We have faltered, but we will not fail. God is on our side and we belong to Him. We turn to Him and repent of our wicked ways. Cleared-eyed we shall pick up the sword of righteousnes and continue the march to the high calling of our God. He will pevail.
